Walking Program

Kangaroo The Cooloola section of the Great Sandy National Park is the largest tract of land on Queensland's southern coast. Only one and a half hours from Brisbane and a half an hour from Noosa the 65,000 hectare park with its forests, plains, sandhills, huge lakes and secluded waterways produce a wilderness seemingly a million miles away.
Elanda Point Canoe Company, Boats Tours and Camping is the base for all canoeing, boating and walking tours in the Cooloola region.

Just some of these tours allow you to walk through the woodlands of the banksias and melaleucas to savor a moment of history at Mill Point where a town of 250 people thrived in 1870 but today has almost vanished. Or you can walk across open heath covered with wildflowers and through rainforests with towering trees to the unique Kinaba Information Centre built on pylons over the water at the northwest corner of Lake Cootharaba.

At Elanda Point you can hire boats and canoes to cross the majestic Lake Cootharaba and cruise through the tranquil and serene waterways of the Upper Noosa River. Since 1975 the Elanda Point Canoe and Motor Boat Company has been providing guides, transport, equipment and guided canoe safaris through the Cooloola from Elanda Point, Kinaba Information Centre, Harry's Hut and Teewah Creek. Their knowledge of the Cooloola's walks and waterways is legendary and they love to share that knowledge with patrons.
On the Mill Point Walk (MILL 1) and the Kinaba Walk (KIN 1) numbered signs point out the notable physical, botanical or historical features in that part of the Cooloola as positioned on Canoeing Boating and Walking Map1
