THROUGHOUT THE COOLOOLA SECTION GREAT SANDY NATIONAL PARK ~ 2003

canoes The Elanda Point Canoe Company hires canoes and kayaks throughout the Cooloola Section of the Great Sandy National Park at Elanda Point on Lake Cootharaba and at Kinaba in the Noosa Everglades. Also at Harry's Hut they hire canoes only with a minimum of four canoes for one dayand two canoes for more then one day. And at Teewah Creek there is a minimum of two canoes & two day hiring. At Teewah Creek, due to log obstructions and narrowness of waterways, only plastic canoes are hired - no fibreglass canoes and no kayaks.
  1. When you book your canoe hire with Elanda Point they will provide you with a check list of everything you should have and everything you should know before canoeing up the Noosa River.
  2. All hirings greater then, include paddles and bouyancy vests for the usual number of people for that boat - extra paddles and extra bouyancy vests costs $5 each. Also provided are sealed-lid barrells or dry bags (2 items only). Canoes can hold a maximum of two barrels. Extra day bags are $5 each.
  3. Remember, if camping in the Cooloola National Park you must book a campsite with the National Parks by rining 54497364. They will charge you $4 per person per night.
  4. All canoes hired for more than one day are charged at halfday rates.
  5. All hiring days begin at 8am and finish at 4.30pm
Canoes are 4.8m (16 feet) fibreglass and plastic canoes usually capable of carrying two persons and gear or 3 persons and no gear with an extra charge of $5 for the extra paddle and $5 for the extra vest. At Elanda and Kinaba as well as canoes, they also hire touring kayaks. One person touring kayaks are 4.5m (15ft) plastic kayaks equiped with a cargo hatch at the rear, but they have no rudder. At Elanda Point only they hire one person sea kayaks. Sea Kayaks are 4.8m (16ft) plastic kayaks equipped with two cargo hatches and they do have a rudder. Also at Elanda Point only, they hire junior kayaks, wave skis, sailcats, windsurfers, and motor boats. Advanced bookings are taken only for one day or more canoe hirings. When you book your canoe hire with Elanda Point they will provide you with a check list of everything you should have and everything you should know before canoeing up the Noosa River. Experienced local instructor/ guides are available for groups on instructor driven activities in the Cooloola.

Camping Equipment Hire

The Elanda Point Canoe Company also hires to their canoe and boat hirers, all camping equipment for expeditions throughout the Cooloola. To save you money they will hire you bits and pieces or the whole lot camping equipment with all cooking equipment, including stoves and all sleeping gear including tents and sleeping bags.

The Whole Lot Equipment Hire

For backpackers and overseas travellers we can hire you the whole lot ( canoe and camping gear) at a special price of $120 per person (2 persons to a canoe) for your "do it yourself" 2 day canoeing & camping expedition or $135 per person for your "do it yourself" 3 day expedition.

Bookings

By phoning our Noosa Bookings Only Office between 8am and 6pm on FREECALL 1800 CANOES (1800 226 637) you can, with a credit card and holding number, make an immediate booking. Payment must be made on or before the hiring. A cancellation charge pertaining to that credit card holding number will apply on the following basis:-

School group bookings without credit card details are held tentatively for only one week until full payment or a deposit of $100 has been recieved. This deposit is to cover costs of administration, organization & holding of equipment and is non-refundable on cancellation but is transferable on postponement.

If hiring canoes away from Elanda at Kinaba, Harry's Hut or Teewah creek
you may require landcruiser taxi or water taxi transport to those places.
