ADV 3 HARRY'S CAMPING & DAY USE AREA

Further upstream from Fig Tree Point on the banks of the Upper Noosa River is Harry's Camping and Day Use Area. Harry's is a 2 hour 20 minutes canoe paddle one way (11.5km) from Elanda or a one hour hire motor boat cruise one way. Harry's features picnic tables, a shelter shed with water tank, barbecues and toilets.

Canoe By using the Cooloola Wilderness Walking Trail you can walk to Harry's 4 hours one way(17km) from Elanda crossing the Kin Kin Creek footbridge on the way. Some walkers, instead of using the Cooloola Wilderness Walking Trail, use the Boronia Walking Tail which proceeds from the Kin Kin Creek up to the Harry's Vehicle Road.
Harry's Camping and Day Use Area is accessible to vehicles by this rough gravel road in dry weather and a vehicle may be driven to Harry's from Elanda Point in one hour one way (32km).
Once again, groups may split into two half groups with half of the group canoeing and the other half group walking, but because of the time distance factor now involved, most groups camp overnight at least at Harry's, before swapping over their mode of transport for the return trip back to Elanda Point. Camping permits for all wilderness campsites in the Cooloola should be booked prior to your arrival by phoning the National Parks on (07) 131304.
As well as hiring canoes at Harry's and providing transport by watertaxi or landcruiser taxi from Elanda to Harry's and return, the Elanda Point Canoe & Motor Boat Company also allows hire canoes from Elanda to be transported on car roof racks to Harry's. Any canoe moved on roof racks must be transported in flat position and must be hired for at least one day. It also incurs an insurance surcharge of $30.
